The 1950s woman cooked for her family using a mix of canned goods and fresh items. Frozen dinners and dehydrated foods began muscling in.

The 1960s' cooks became aware of organic and "health-food" cooking.

Some 1970s cooks put hash in brownies.

The 1980s cooks seriously geared up with kitchen work islands and other accessories. The concept of the gourmet strengthened. Also in the 1980s Bon Appetit Magazine was born, and Gourmet Magazine was purchased by Conde Nast Publications.

In the 1990s viola FoodTV ...a dream come true, and more dreams to come....

Two lives ago I was a man. It was Victorian Times and my wife didn't want to be a housewife. She would have loved to have opened a bowling alley! We split up. She never opened a bowling alley, but it would have been nice.

In my next life, I was a woman. I spent years in the kitchen (and washing clothes & ironing) and learned to appreciate the preparation of food--particularly since we were in Missouri during the 1930s, and there wasn't a lot of grub, and it was depressing. But I loved the kitchen, and I passed the love of cooking to my child. With food a rarity, we valued it the greater!

Here I am today, once again a woman. My Mom loved to bake and I was forever looking for more cooking lessons. I once asked a neighbor who was childless to teach me to cook--that was pretty outrageous to her--but she quietly ran back inside her house not to answer.
